• 27/05/2011 - Bergamo Historic Gran Prix 2011 Sunday 29th of May on the old town circuit The period is that of the rise of Italian Fascism and Italian people are slowly getting their own cars. Fiat ‘Balilla’ is born in 1932. Its name reminds the youth organization of government, Mussolini takes advantage of the period of growth and literally ‘orders’ the Company of Turin to manufacture FIAT 500, a popular car, better known as ‘ Topolino’.There is a technological challenge on top of car industry, on international field : Hitler appeals to the nationalistic feeling and urges Mercedes and Auto Union to strengthen the prestige of the emerging ‘Big Germany’ in the sports cars field. The challenge greatly involves the Italian car industry and both Alfa Romeo and Maserati get excellent international results. Italian fans are shared between the two Companies and between two big rivals: Tazio Nuvolari, a determined and brave popular hero, follower of the Regime and Achille Varzi, a champion of style and dignity. The challenge gets burning when Varzi goes over to the ‘enemy’.On that background Bergamo is in the limelight of high level sport motor racing and organizes the first race in a circuit in the Venetian Walls thanks to the spur of Sir Maurizio Reich and the Noble Angelo Zineroni, chairman and director of Automobil Club supported by Commendator Renzo Castagneto from Brescia, who, thanks to Mille Miglia Race has proved to be a reliable and skilful organizer.The City of Bergamo Cup is soon successful so Ferrari Company enters four Alfa Romeo cars and Maserati five cars, two of which are official cars, and two cars from Subalpina Company. The preparation proceeds quickly: the road track is entirely covered with a bitumen layer, the event is largely advertised. Streets and shopwindows are covered with posters showing a sketched racing car over the outline of Porta San Giacomo reading ‘ leaps and roars around the silent acropolis’, so the race on the Walls circuit is the first speed race to be played in 1935.The money prizes are considerable: the total amount is 45,000 Lire, 14,550 of which will be given to the winner together with the imposing ‘City of Bergamo ‘ Cup and the Gold Medal of the ‘Duce’. A cannon shot invites the drivers to start the engines, meanwhile a corps of motorcyclist soldiers loudly pours onto the starting point square: it’s the escort of His Royal Highness the Duke of Bergamo; the notes of the ‘Royal March’ and ‘Youth’ can be heard on the background, the Duke, holding a light blue flag, is going to start the competition.The accounts of the time write: “the competition starts and the formation shows Nuvolari and Farina in the first row, in front of Comotti from Bergamo, Soffietti and Siena. The circuit winds along the ‘Walls perimeter: Piazzale S.Agostino, Mura della Fara, Piazzale S.Agostino for a length of 2.920 Km, 70 laps to drive for a total distance of 204.400 Km. The public is large, in spite of the payment of the entrance ticket. They say a crowd of 20 thousand people is there and 1,500 cars are parked everywhere”.Tazio Nuvolari springs and is in the lead, followed by Nino Farina, the only one able to keep with him, even if his Maserati has got the disadvantage of a smaller and less powerful engine. ‘Nivola’ thrills the 20,000 fans crowded along the course and drives recklessly lapping all the rivals, he reaches the finishing line all alone. He is rewarded by the Duke of Bergamo with the Trophy prize, and he rewards the people of Bergamo saying : “ You’ve got a sublime circuit, it’s even better than the Montecarlo one “.Bergamo, on May 2011, the magic happens again and the ancient Venetian Walls enjoy watching the beauty of the cars speeding in front of them.
• 12/05/2011 - Concours d'Elegance "Castello di Miramare" Trieste - Italy 14th and 15th of May L’Associazione Amatori Veicoli Storici ha avuto il compito di raccogliere vetture belle, rare e prestigiose, costruite tra gli anni ‘30 e gli anni ‘70, molte delle quali già vincitrici di concorsi d’eleganza internazionali, oppure oggetto di un completo restauro storico, e per la prima volta visibili dagli esperti e dal pubblico.Questioni di natura logistica, legati anche al luogo della manifestazione, hanno portato a limitare il numero complessivo delle vetture partecipanti a 30, suddivise in tre gruppi (anni ‘30, anni ‘40-’60 e dagli anni ‘60 ai ‘70). Saranno presenti vetture di diversa tipologia, in alcuni casi veri esemplari unici, o dal “nobile” pedigree sportivo: costruttori americani (Stutz e Lincoln), tedeschi (Mercedes), francesi (Bugatti), inglesi (Aston Martin e Jaguar), e naturalmente italiani, con particolare riferimento alle storiche “carrozzerie”. Di grade prestigio anche la giuria, costituita da personalità quali Leonardo Fioravanti (che ne è presidente), Enrico Fumia, Adolfo Orsi, Lorenzo Ramaciotti e Tom Tjaarda. A portare il saluto della FIVA, arriverà dalla Francia il Vice Presidente Patrick Rollet.Le vetture si potranno ammirare a Trieste, sabato pomeriggio 14 Maggio in Piazza Unità d`Italia e nel parco del Castello di Miramare, domenica 15 maggio dalle 10 alle 16 con ingresso libero.

• 23/02/2011 - Passione Moto at Padova Exhibition Center The Italian Show for the Bike World For nearly 30 years Intermeeting organized the international show "Auto e Moto d'Epoca" at Padova Exhibition Center. A great event, internationally recognized and appreciated by an audience of more than 60,000 visitors and admirers from all Europe. Due to the strong demand by enthusiasts and bikers a completely brand new event dedicated to the motorcycle world will be held in 2011, on 5th and 6th March at Padova Exhibition Center. Passione Moto has the aim to list the story of the motorcycles from its origins to the present days, involving all the fans in the world of cycling. The exhibition will be distributed over an area of 20,000 sqm and is divided into different sectors: dealers, restorers and history, clubs and historical records, spare parts, accessories, custom and the private sector with vintage bikes and equipment for sale. There will be also thematic exhibitions and related events to experience the full world of two wheels ride. A must for many fans, the real protagonists of these two days devoted to the history and passion for motorcycles. The organization also intends to achieve, in cooperation with an important museum, a thematic exhibition involving movies and cinema, with a selection of films with bikes as main characters.

  It is now really official The sixth edition of Le Mans Classic will be held on 6, 7 and 8 July 2012. This announcement was eagerly awaited by the many enthusiasts impatient to participate once again in the big classic car event. For three days, some of the most beautiful collection cars will follow each other on the Big Le Mans Circuit and relive the glorious hours of the mythical 24 Hours of Le Mans.In addition to the competition, the spectators will share a convivial moment in a unique atmosphere bringing together Gentlemen Drivers, budding young drivers, clubs and exhibitors. The recipe of success remains the same with the village, the activities, the auction, the race and of course the Little Big Mans parade, now one of the week-end’s key moments. Appointment is made on 6, 7 and 8 July 2012 for a new edition of Le Mans Classic.

• 05/02/2011 - Coppa Milano - Sanremo A heavy glamor race The 2011 Coppa Milano-Sanremo will take place from the 11th to the 13th of March. The event will celebrate 150 years of Italian Unity. For this unique, unrepeatable occasion the route has been modified. Following the pre-event checks in Monza, the cars will parade all the way to Milan.In Milan extremely rare vehicles manufactured from 1861 to the present day will be exhibited, in order to celebrate 150 years of Italian Unity through 150 years of the history of locomotion.The event itself will begin on Friday evening. The first leg will end in Turin, the first ever capital city of Italy. The next morning competitors will leave for a short lunch stop in Sanremo and then they will head along the Riviera di Ponente and inland for the second overnight stop in Genoa. The third leg ends back in Milan with a farewell lunch and an awards ceremony.The 2011 Coppa Milano-Sanremo will be a classic regularity event for cars manufactured from 1906 to 1981.Exciting news for 2011: as with the Mille Miglia, Ferraris manufactured from 1982 to the present day will be taking part. The Ferraris will precede the classic cars by about an hour and will follow the same exciting route.
